Assigned For Purpose
Understanding God's Purpose Through Life's Assignments
Life often presents us with assignments that may seem meaningless or beneath us. However, these assignments are crucial stepping stones toward fulfilling God's greater purpose for our lives.
What is the Connection Between Assignments and Purpose?
Just as students must complete assignments to progress toward graduation, we must complete God's assignments to move toward His purpose for our lives. Each assignment, no matter how small, is connected to a larger purpose that may not be immediately apparent.
Why Do People Resist God's Assignments?
People often resist assignments for three main reasons:
They feel the task is beneath them
They're too comfortable where they are
They don't see the connection to their ultimate purpose
What Are the Three Key Principles of Purpose-Driven Assignments?
1. Assignments Flow from God's House
Every meaningful assignment starts with a connection to God's house. When we engage with God's heart and His house, our lives begin to flourish and align with His purpose.
2. Assignments Align with God's Purpose
Even when we can't see the immediate connection, every assignment God gives is intentionally aligned with His greater purpose for our lives. What seems insignificant today may be preparing us for something greater tomorrow.
3. Assignments Flow Back to God's House
The ultimate goal of every assignment is not personal gain but the advancement of God's kingdom. Our purpose is always bigger than ourselves and should benefit the whole body of Christ.
How Do We Handle Seemingly Insignificant Assignments?
The key is to approach every assignment with purpose, regardless of its apparent significance. Document your journey and what you're learning - these insights will help you "run swiftly" toward your purpose later.
Life Application
This week, challenge yourself to:
Identify the assignments in your life you've been resisting or dismissing
Write down how each assignment might be connected to God's larger purpose
Approach each task with renewed purpose and dedication
Ask yourself:
Am I avoiding any assignments because I think they're beneath me?
How might my current assignments be preparing me for God's future purpose?
Am I seeing my assignments through the lens of personal gain or kingdom advancement?
Remember: Every assignment, no matter how small, has purpose. Don't let pride or impatience cause you to miss the stepping stones God has placed in your path toward His ultimate purpose for your life.
